ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION There are two major divisions of this group of therapeutic agents, and a third, miscellaneous group that comprises several specific antiparasitical agents.

The first major group is the antimalarial drugs. The chief agents employed in malaria therapy are chloroquine and its congeners, inhibitors of dihydrofolate reductase, primaquine, and quinine (Gilman et al., 1980). Sulfonamides, sulfones, and tetracyclines are also used concurrently with certain of these drugs.
