ABSTRACT

This chapter unravels the psychological and emotional condition of India’s youths based on the CSDS study findings. It analyses the self-reported levels of anxiety and mental distress among young Indians, taking into account a whole host of parameters such as worry levels regarding employment, education, personal health, parents’ health, marriage, etc. and the prevalence of depression, loneliness and suicidal thoughts. Overall, it finds young Indians to be a highly anxious generation and suffering from fairly high levels of emotional distress.
