ABSTRACT

Remote sensing can be defined as a technique for the collection of terrain features from measurements made at a distance without coming into physical contact with the objects under investigation. Characteristics electromagnetic radiation that is reflected or emitted by the earth’s surface are detected. Sensors can be installed either in aircrafts or satellites. They are intended to react with the reflected and emitted electromagnetic radiation from the earth’s surface to produce images. The images are then analysed to yield information of importance for flood control and management.
