ABSTRACT

The programme may dictate the kind of outside-to-in architecture that is virtually pictorial. almost two-dimensional, and could be designed almost completely in elevation alone. The restrained fa.;ades of a Georgian terrace involve such slight modelling that a perspective drawing could add little to what could be shown in a formal elevation. Even a richly detailed front such as that ofInigo J ones' Banqueting Hall in Whitehall could be as clearly explained in this way, given accurate sciagraphy and skilled rendering.
