ABSTRACT
The basic focus for our unit is to try and take the massive amounts of data more available to users within the police department. We are committed to making GIS the conduit for transfer of the data to the users. There are many obstacles in the way, such as technology problems, large data sets and in some cases, learning curves for new software and products. We are implementing a process to enter robbery data into the ATAC program for trend analysis in robbery offenses so that perhaps we can find a robbery series before the Robbery Detail brings it to our attention. This will allow us to take a more proactive approach to crime analysis in this area.
