ABSTRACT

The following notes are offered with the aim of answering the queries of some readers about the technicalities of organs in general and of chamber organs in particular. They are not for the expert, are not detailed, and are in no way a substitute for the many excellent books which deal more exhaustively with the finer points of organ building. At the same time it should always be remembered that a half-hour spent in conversation with a professional organ builder is often likely to be of greater value (and probably much more entertaining) than several hours poring over books.
