ABSTRACT
The three most important drivers of the current revival of interest in nuclear energy are: the perceived increasing global demand for energy, specifically electricity; the quest for energy security or diversity; and the need to tackle climate change. Technology, in the form of improved efficiency of existing reactors and the promise of advanced reactor design, is also an important driver. In addition there are political and strategic motivations that merit consideration.
