ABSTRACT

Hybrid coach development programs (CDP) provide a mix of online and in-person learning strategies. They are useful in coach education because they provide flexibility for the learners and opportunities for coach developers to apply various instructional strategies for coach learning. In this chapter, I focus on using an educational design research (EDR) approach to design a hybrid course, with an emphasis on developing authentic learning experiences for the coaches. EDR refers to a group of design-oriented approaches to conduct educational research (Kopcha, Schmidt & McKenney 2015), and can be used to improve learning interventions in coach education programs, especially when paired with an authentic learning framework.
