ABSTRACT

Cindy rolled over to look at the clock next to her bed. It was only 4:30 a.m. Too early to get up for the methadone program. As she settled back into bed, she considered once again how remarkable it was that she awoke at all. Today she was able to smile at the thought. The familiar struggle with depression and negativity was not going to happen today. Some days, however, the same thought brought tears to her eyes and a heaviness across her chest.
