ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the need for the development of CBT-T in the context of existing therapies for eating disorders, the funding environment, and the need for effective therapies to be delivered more efficiently. It outlines the evidence that CBT-ED is the optimum approach for working with adults with eating disorders. It then delivers the recent evidence that this new, briefer therapy (CBT-T) gives results that are comparable to those obtained with CBT-ED, but in half the time and at a much lower cost.
