ABSTRACT

Fire blight, also written reblight, is a contagious disease affecting apples, pears, and some other members of the family Rosaceae. Fire blight is a destructive bacterial disease of apples and pears that kills blossoms, shoots, limbs, and sometimes the entire trees. It poses a serious concern to producers of apples and pears. Under optimal conditions, it can destroy an entire orchard in a single growing season.
