Creative improvised approaches to spotting and grabbing opportunities – like the potential of re-opening the bakery – have been more important than rigid systems or processes. The former bakery was turning into a site of resistance. The story of the bakery as a place of resistance started spreading nationally and internationally, which encouraged Homebaked to start a crowd-funding campaign in November 2012, called 'An Oven at the Heart of Anfield', in order to buy the oven and kitchen appliances needed to supply the bakery. It was important that the bakery as a place of production should become a viable business, as this would also mean the community could generate its own resources, creating local jobs and skills. Tapping into the frustration, trying to turn it into a constructive desire, and stimulating a community-based response to the regeneration of Anfield formed the start of the Homebaked project.
