ABSTRACT
The eighteenth-century philosopher Immanuel Kant taught that people could acquire understanding through three distinct viewpoints: the perspective of formal logic (mathematics), the perspective of time (history), and the perspective of space (geography). This last perspective emphasizes the importance of distance, site characteristics, and relative location in describing the relationships among several objects or facilities.
