ABSTRACT

In Spanish there is a saying, "The opposite of a funeral is a wedding." Marrying and burying are a venerable old couple. They love, fight, and deserve each other. These two moments in the human lifecycle are indissoluble. I let the pair stand for the whole. "Marrying & burying" is a euphonic shorthand for major lifecycle transitions. The cycle includes more than weddings and funerals; it also comprises births and initiations.
