ABSTRACT
This chapter is a collaboration between a mother, Jeanne, and Jackie Dean (Occupational Therapist and Brain Injury Case Manager). Following a lengthy telephone conversation, it was agreed that Jeanne would start by putting her story in writing. This took some time and subsequent emails noted that this had involved the whole family and had been a highly emotional experience. I was overtly aware that this was an extremely important piece of narrative and that it carried great emotional investment. I was reminded that professionals should remember the power of narrative in the healing process, and the importance of listening well.
