ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to give an account of events which took place during the early to mid-1980s within a conservative Pentecostal Fellowship in the north east of England. Specifically, the focus will be an examination of the doctrines, practices, and outcomes of the ministry of deliverance 1 which was introduced into the church upon the arrival of a new pastor. A concluding section will offer an analysis of the events described here with a view to better understanding the many aspects of the church, at that time, which gave rise to the emphasis on demonic attacks and the strategies employed to counter them.
