ABSTRACT

The concept of seismic resilience has received a prevalent attention from academia as well as industry during last two decades. Different frameworks for seismic resilience assessment have been proposed recently. However, the resilience assessment results still need to be calibrated based on a unified evaluation model. Therefore, benchmark model of a medium-sized city is developed to compare these assessment frameworks. This paper introduces the demographics, site condition and possible hazard exposure of the city. Detailed information of a typical building or an infrastructure system network is also available. Data from past earthquakes and literature are collected to develop fragility models, consequence models and recovery models which will be used in resilience assessment process. The proposed benchmark model can be used for calibrating resilience assessment results.
