ABSTRACT

Belgium and Holland are the two small and significant European countries to have faced the problem of Muslim immigrations, the former as the political and economic center of the European Union, the latter for its extraordinarily liberal laws towards immigrants which have turned sour. Undoubtedly the two heroes of the awakening to Muslim danger and the domestic struggle in those countries to contain it, are Hirsi Ali and Theo van Gogh. Hirsi Ali was a Somalian-Muslim woman naturalized Dutch and elected member of the Dutch Parliament. Theo van Gogh was assassinated in the streets of Amsterdam for his film critical of Islam. Due to her involvement in political life, Hirsi had also made news unrelated to Islam in Europe and attracted fire. During all the period of her single-handed courageous fight for Muslim women rights, she has lived many years in fear and exile under perpetual threats towards her life.
