ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I will identify unique issues related to coaching athletes with impairments and offer strategies for coach developers to properly inform and implement meaningful coach development programs in adapted sport and parasport. The information presented assumes that the process of developing quality coaching through effective coach education is based on the fundamentals of good coaching for any athlete, impaired or not. The chapter’s sections provide an outline of concerns and instructional strategies for coach developers to help cultivate more knowledgeable and effective coaches of athletes with impairments.
