ABSTRACT

The combination of several implants presents itself as a safe and efficient (with a high success rate) therapeutic option for edentulism and bone atrophy. In this study, the stress fields of the 3D geometric model of a bar implant with one zygomatic implant and three conventional implants were numerically analysed, using FEM, RPIM and NNRPIM. Based on the results obtained, it is possible to affirm that meshless methods allow to obtain more precise and smoother solutions when compared with the most popular technique – the finite element method. Thus, meshless methods have the potential to be the future of computational biomechanics.
