ABSTRACT

Great old “abandonware” games from the past can be taken out of storage, touched up with a new coat of pixels, and put right back on the market. Computer role-playing game gamers still expected games of epic scope and massive amounts of content of classics like Ultima VII, but turning out a game like that with advanced 3D graphics, cinematic cutscenes, and intense action wasn't easy, even for well-established studios. White Wolf's game is most notable for its intuitive handling of the unique qualities of vampire characters. For the sequel to its groundbreaking game, Infogrames turned to Obsidian Entertainment, a team composed of former Interplay developers. Obsidian knew that gamers' expectations were high regarding the sequel to the mega popular Neverwinter Nights, and they seemed to have worked hard to address the criticisms of that game while keeping the bulk of its gameplay intact.
