ABSTRACT
This chapter expands the debate on the notion of “acting White” by answering two questions that arise from that debate: is it as pervasive as one might assume, given the attention it has received in the scholarly literature and public media? Should it be used as a dominant explanatory factor of African-American students’ participation in schooling?
