ABSTRACT
This chapter defines and describes key budgeting terms and concepts that will be helpful to know as budget their film. The Filmmakers find the Swingers budget, the Kissing Jessica Stein budget, three sample budgets prepared using the Movie Magic Budgeting software, and a $62,000 budget prepared without any budgeting software. Every film has different needs, and many of the budget categories and line items included in the forms provided by Movie Magic Budgeting and other budgeting programs may not represent items they need to account for when budgeting their film. When examining the four sample budgets, they may notice that certain line items are accounted for in different categories or with different account codes. They created a nonunion fringe in the Movie Magic Budgeting fringe setup box and set it at 18 percent.
