ABSTRACT
Yan Ba was reminded of a journey he had made a few years earlier with a geologist friend. They had traveled to the remote mountainous regions where the source of the Yangtze River is located. They had followed the winding and increasingly narrow stream to a point where it was no more than a trickle of water.
