ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the vulnerabilities developed through childhood maltreatment, reinforced through bullying at school and manifested in mental health problems in adulthood. A brief review of the literature on bullying and mental health provides the context and foundation in understanding the negative impact of bullying on children and adolescents and, through clinical scenarios, highlights its long-term psychological effects. The chapter concludes with a summary on the consequences of childhood trauma and bullying on mental health.
