The federal government has played a part in mergers and acquisitions as well, sometimes finding suitable acquirers to purchase companies in trouble. An acquisition may be part of a company's expansion strategy. Private companies conducting transactions are not required to disclose the price, but they may choose to release that information. Bloomberg Gadfly columnists Tara Lachapelle, Brooke Sutherland and Gillian Tan on covering mergers and acquisitions: Build a wide network of trusted relationships.
