ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with a review of the history and development of Canada. This history illuminates the early European colonization of the Indigenous people and their territories. In the Canadian context, the colonization involved both the British and French; however, the result was the same: The decimation of the Indigenous population. The chapter then explores the nature and scope of crime in Canada, with an emphasis on the plight of the Indigenous people and non-White Canadians.
