ABSTRACT
In the context of contemporary globalization, a different immigrant profile has emerged, in which entrepreneurs, business people, and other professionals are represented along with unskilled workers. In part this is due to the fierce competition and rapid economic growth of recent decades, which has encouraged developed countries like Canada to revise its immigration policy to attract highly skilled workers (Li and Teixeira, 2007).
