ABSTRACT
I. INTRODUCTION Cancer is a lethal and disabling disease of epidemic proportions. Some 52 million persons, or almost one-quarter of the population in the United States, will develop some form of cancer, from which nearly 20% will die (Epstein, 1978). The reported incidence of pregnancy complicated by cancer is approximately 1:1000 (Stern and Johnson, 1982).
