ABSTRACT
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is known to have an important role in the maintenance of homeostasis in the body by adjusting the functions of various organs to changing circumstances of endogenous and exogenous origin. Therefore, the reactions of ANS are coupled to almost all physiological and pathological conditions. Additionally, there are many diseases that may primarily or secondarily alter or modify ANS functions.
