ABSTRACT

Written as a choose-your-own-monster journey, this chapter explores posthuman ethics through Latour’s writing on monsters and the need to love that which we create. The chapter is woven throughout the book in different parts, called Monster Mutations, where readers are invited to engage in provocations as they think about literacy monsters (a variety of practices, policies, pedagogies) and the intended and unintended consequences they produce. Specifically, the authors engage with summer slide and writing workshop and explore posthuman theories as a way to (re)approach these literacy practices more ethically.
