ABSTRACT

The second case study1 focuses on the Gulf states and it includes an Arabian Gulf perspective on the response to the challenges resulting from international “external events.” Add to this the regional developments that affect internal trends. This chapter takes up the research question on feasible “strategies and policies that could guide the Gulf countries in successfully managing future developments” that was asked at the Center for Strategic Studies and Research/ ECSSR, and suggests a set of innovations to meet those challenges. The question is placed in the overall context of the issues analyzed in the preceding chapters and the themes around which they revolve.
