ABSTRACT

This chapter presents several case studies from different industries. The case studies show the importance of addressing data quality (DQ) and process quality aspects in achieving the overall quality of products and services. The case studies was carried out in a printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing industry and was related to electroplating operation. A PCB is a base component with electrical interconnections on which several components are mounted to give the desired electrical output. Drilling is one of the most important operations of PCB manufacturing. The Drilled holes used to measure DQ are known as coupon holes. Four important DQ dimensions—completeness, validity, conformity, and accuracy—of the data were addressed before analyzing the experimental results. The target value for accuracy was considered to be 97% and the actual accuracy value was considered to be 94%. All other dimensional scores were 100%.
