ABSTRACT

Introduction A competition was launched in 1991 to explore the possibility of designing a high-rise building above the new road tunnel that brings traffic into the centre of Düsseldorf. The competition was won by Ingenhoven Overdiek Petzinka und Partner and built by the re-formed practice of Petzinka Pink und Partner. The new building was to be part of a new ‘creative’ mile that was proposed for the old harbour with offices, studios, media and advertising developments.
