ABSTRACT
In order to present our ideas it has been necessary to break them down into specific topics, illustrated by relevant examples. We shall now bring the themes together and consider their mutual interaction during the evolution of individual cases. We shall present a single case study, that of Doreen Aston, which contains many examples of the patterns we have described. The events surrounding Doreen’s life and death will be reviewed in some detail, as well as the working hypotheses that we generated about them.
