ABSTRACT

Yanjing Brewery is one of the newest breweries and the third-largest brewer in China. Its main business is manufacturing and distributing beer in the domestic market. The company is headquartered in Beijing and owns 16 breweries nationwide. Yanjing employs about 8,000 people. Yanjing Beer is not the flagship Chinese beer in either the domestic or the global market, but it holds a predominant position in the middle-and low-end markets in northern China (Yanjing Brewery, Annual Report 2003). Owing to preferential industrial policies and the company’s strategic adjustments, Yanjing has evolved from a small SOE to an emerging national giant within the short period of 20 years.
