ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 outlines the reasons why clinicians should use manuals to get the best possible outcomes. However, it also stresses the importance of delivering CBT-T flexibly, making the protocol fit the patient rather than vice versa. The overlapping phases of CBT-T are detailed and explained, along with consideration of how to decide what techniques should be used for the individual patient. It is also recommended that clinicians should read the manual fully before starting to use it, so that they have an overview of what is to come.
