ABSTRACT

This chapter begins the refl ection-central to Part 1 of the book-on the changing relationships between science, technology and society, which characterize current issues of sustainability at both the local and global levels. More specifi cally, the aim of this chapter is to introduce and problematize the concept of technoscientifi c knowledge in socioenvironmental problems and its role in normative frameworks, providing a general overview of the most recent developments in the area of science and public policy.
