Epidemiology In the year 2002, the incidence of cervical cancer accounted for almost 500 000 new cases. It varies widely depending on geographical, socioeconomic, and lifestyle factors. The incidence is higher in developing nations (three-quarters of the patients), but even in developing nations there is an urban-rural difference.
