ABSTRACT
After the Fall was about to open. I had written an eerie piece of music based on the theme that had been used for the tragic figure of Maggie. I had tried to make this music represent the emptiness of her aspirations as well as her inability to deal with the real world. In this final statement, a violin held a high harmonic, while other instruments played. Kazan and Miller had not heard it, but because they trusted me at this point they said we should try it during a preview.
