ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I examine the filial love situation in Chile. Since 1989, and after one of the harshest dictatorships in the Southern Cone, Chile began a process of recovering democracy channelled through the constitution of what was called the Concertación that in practice began as a strategic union between the Communist Party, the Socialist Party and Christian Democracy. This process has been not only political, but also economic and social. The text is organized in the following way: 1. it sets out context, voices and experiences; 2. explores filial love in Chile, past and present; and 3. offers some final reflections. In this context, is important to note that there are some groups, associations and collectives that in Chile connected with filial love practices in the 1970s and 1980s, traces that seem to remain in recent structuring processes.
