ABSTRACT

The systems development life cycle (SDLC) models outlined in Chapter 5 are only a few of the large list that exists, but they give a taste of the various approaches taken by designers around the world. One interesting model not included in this list was developed by Motorola in 1986. Six Sigma is not so much an SDLC as a set of quality management tools embodying statistical quality control to reduce costs by reducing defects in manufacturing.
