ABSTRACT
ElieWiesel once said: "The sincere Christian knows that what died in Auschwitz was not the Jewish people but Christianity;"! Let us consider this statement more closely. First: The Jewish people did not die in Auschwitz.We would not be gathered here today if the plans of those had worked who conceived of Auschwitz and who made it a reality. Their diabolical machinery of extermination has murdered millions of Jews,but at the same time it contributed to a new form of existence that the Jewish people as a people have assumed: as a Jewish state in the land that has been their home since the time of their biblical ancestors. The Jewish people did not die, and let us thank God that they did not die.
