ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the historical contributions made to the discipline of Management. Our experiences with executives, workers and students reveal that most people have a narrower view of Management. This continues to build a foundation of how management started and how it has evolved. This is important because it allows us to show how the management process was formulated and why it is evolving over time. This foundation is especially important because it sets the stage for transformational change and why knowing the distinctions between a manager or a leader is critical.
