ABSTRACT

This chapter starts with the quote from Ms J that opened the book because it provides a sense of the alliance's mission: that is, to prepare students for the next stage in their lives to get a job, to be worthy and productive members of society. The Clementine-led alliance and provides important details about the matters of context shaping the data and arguments presented. The chapter provides an account of Clementine's ethical group leadership in relation to its prioritising of school autonomy, school collaboration and learner improvement. The chapter introduces some schools within the Clementine-led alliance and their head teachers. These schools were described as wide-ranging in terms of model, type and Ofsted rating, but as reflecting similarly diverse student demographics and similar strong commitments to the alliance and its purpose. The chapter discusses the positive approach to the modes of subjection shaping the leadership and social justice telos within the alliance is abundantly clear in the head teacher.
