ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the broad view and multiple efforts and strategies utilized to create options for teenage parents in the state of Wisconsin. Case managers play a key role: they simultaneously work with individual clients and with the multiple systems that must be influenced so that clients and their needs are "seen" and acknowledged (identification) and successfully connected to case management services (outreach). The case manager must look at the overall picture and his or her philosophy must be that of molding a comprehensive service delivery. The case manager also made conscious attempts to establish a solid base for a continuum of services through coalition building. The primary purpose of services to teenagers in school-based settings is to ensure that the students are provided with an atmosphere in which they will be motivated to complete their high school education.
