ABSTRACT

In the late 1990s, executive protection become a corporate household word and catch-all phrase describing risk management, deterrence, and security. The idea of executive protection (close personal protection) includes all the principles of protection such as determination of actual and potential vulnerabilities, careful analysis and planning, preparation, implementation of a well-conceived plan, advance security arrangements, and total awareness to provide a safe secure environment. Close personal protection (CPP) is a security program designed around the lifestyle, family, and environment of the individual being protected. It is much, much more than “standing and waiting.” It means anticipating, preparing, and planning for any contingency that would place the person being protected in a life-threatening position.
