ABSTRACT
Patient Assessment This polytrauma case presents several challenges for surgical fixation and postoperative care. More robust fixation is required. Since there are bilateral fractures, the patient will not easily be able to guard its injuries. There will be an increased metabolic demand with this patient and increased risk of infection due to the multiple injuries and longer anticipated anesthesia time. The following is a discussion of the treatment of the tibial fracture only.
