ABSTRACT

An essential feature of paranoid personality disorder (PPD) is a pattern of pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of others (APA, 2000). Prominent features of PPD include hypersensitivity to signs of deception and an inclination to stay free of relationships in which the power of self-determination might be compromised (Millon & Grossman, 2007a). Individuals with PPD demonstrate a cognitive rigidity that isolates them from corrective environmental feedback; they become increasingly convinced that their distorted worldview is accurate as they do battle with the hostile forces they see around them.
