ABSTRACT

Kathmandu, the capital of mountainous Nepal, suffers from very severe air pollution. 1 One might add water and sound pollution in the mix as well, since those who live in Kathmandu have to grapple with these problems every single day. Politics, economy, and development discourse in Nepal mainly happen in the capital. It is, therefore, not surprising that any discussion about politics, economy, and climate change and its effect on people is dominated by what happens in the Kathmandu valley. The discussions are also mostly urban-centric.
